Internships

My summer internship at Stibbe was an incredible opportunity. It gave me a first insight into the workings of an international business law firm and it really helped me figure out how I want to steer my career. Ever since my first day at work, I was given assignments that truly mattered as part of the solution to the legal challenges faced by the client. To know that my work would actually be relied on and that I was able to help out lawyers in their day-to-day work was extremely rewarding.

Join us as an intern

Please note that all internship positions for this year are filled. We look forward to your application for the 2023 programmes. Registration is possible as of 1 October, 2022.

For whom?

Are you a third-year bachelor’s degree student? Or a first- or second-year master’s degree student? If you are, then you’re eligible to apply for one of our law internships.

When?

Summer internship: a one-month programme that usually takes place between June and September.

Winter internship: a programme of minimum two weeks and up to one month that usually takes place in January or February.

What?

Our summer and winter internships offer an excellent opportunity for you to develop your skills as a lawyer and get hands-on experience. As an intern, you will attend practice group meetings, participate in (conference) calls with clients, help prepare trial briefs, answer clients’ questions by drawing up memos and emails, draft letters to clients, lawyers, and opposing counsel, conduct legal research, maybe even attend court hearings, etc. Summer interns also have the chance to participate in a genuine Stibbe Summer Moot Court and attend a series of tailor-made workshops and classes offered by our Stibbe Academy that focus on legal skills and soft skills.

To balance off the hard work and the many tasks you will carry out, you are of course cordially invited to take part in our fun activities too, such as our Friday after-hours drinks, yoga sessions, and other exciting, let-your-hair-down moments. In short, your internship will help you get acquainted with the kind of work we do at Stibbe, and it will offer you a chance to experience our firm’s culture and working environment. More importantly, it provides you with an opportunity to meet the people who work at Stibbe (and who might be your future colleagues) and to interact with them both professionally and informally.

How?

After a first, CV-based selection, you might be qualified for an interview with a member of the HR team. For the summer internships, we start these interviews in the fall of each year. For the winter internships, we hold interviews all year round. A final selection of candidates is made from those we have interviewed. We recruit around 25 summer and winter trainees each year.

An academic internship?

Some universities have an off-campus practical training internship as part of their degree programme, with some even replacing a theoretical course. This is called an academic internship. If they do, contact us and apply for our academic internship via the button below.

To date, we have hosted students from the following universities already through such academic internships:
